As of: 10/06/2022 4:49 PM

Because of Corona, the celebration of Lower Saxony’s 75th birthday has been postponed. But now it will be compensated for: from today until June 12, festivities will take place in Hanover. NDR is there, too.

Over 400,000 visitors are expected. Nine so-called objective miles and seven stages around the Maschsee and Maschpark are planned. “It is good that after the many months of Corona, we can see and enjoy the diverse life of our country again,” Prime Minister Stefan Weil (SPD) said when presenting the plans last week.

Avoid arriving by car

Since the roads around the site are closed and there are hardly any parking spaces nearby, the City of Hanover recommends not traveling to the festival by car. In addition to bicycle parking spaces at the event site, there are also parking and riding spaces with good public transport links. The organizers advise that motorists should use free of charge Use the NUNAV Navigation app to avoid traffic jams.

250 exhibitors expected

The city of Hanover has an overview including site plan and stage performances Posted online. The work of many clubs, associations, artists and especially people working on a voluntary basis should be at the forefront of the festival. It was also said in the presentation that they should give Lower Saxony’s Day a regional face. “Stadt.Land.Fest” is the slogan for the celebration, as 250 exhibitors introduce themselves along the nine themed miles. Among other things, there are blue light and technological flair as well as other focal points around sports, nature, environment and tourism.

A special flair for the host

The state capital presents itself on its own inclination. Maschpark has, among other things, a huge historical map of the city that children can explore in a small car. The centerpiece of the Hannover Mile is an open-air exhibition held by the Historical Museum entitled “Hanover – the capital of Lower Saxony”. This is connected with the exhibition “75 years of Lower Saxony”, which was shown in 2021 in the Citizens’ Hall of the New Town Hall. One will look at an eventful time period and stories from Hanover’s past and at the same time look at the present and future of the city with its many shows, said Hanover Mayor Billet Unai (Green Party), adding that the Lower Saxony Day festivities were “a great opportunity to present Hanover”. as the state capital.
