On Saturday, April 9, 2022, spring will begin at Laxenburg Palace Park, where Wien Holding also has a stake. The traditional boat and ferry charter is starting to operate again and invites you to spend hours relaxing in the castle pond. Several events are also on the program again.
Spring is in the Air: From April 9, visitors can soak up the sun and welcome the warm season in Austria’s largest landscape park. The nature of the castle garden enchants with its bright colors and gentle chirping of birds that awaken true spring feelings. Boat rentals at the castle pond are again available for those looking for relaxation and those interested in culture can take a traditional ferry to the Franzensburg Museum. A children’s playground with many playing equipment offers a paradise for young guests in the castle garden on an area of about 6000 square metres. Of course, there will be a series of colorful events in the castle garden again this year.
Historic Garden Tours
Even before the season’s official start, historic park tours of Laxenburg Castle Park begin April 3. The unique history of the origins and the diverse botany can be discovered in the castle garden on a pleasant walk. Tours are held once a month in April, May, June, September and October.
Imperial enjoyment of art in Franzensburg
From April 9, there will be daily tours of the Franzensburg Museum at 11:00 AM, 12:00 PM, 2:00 PM and 3:00 PM. Interested parties are given an in-depth look into the history of the Habsburg dynasty. Those who like a little more adventure are advised to take the “High Tower and Roofs” tour, which takes place at 1pm and 4pm weather permitting and offers a 360-degree panoramic view from the top of Franzenberg’s high tower.
From summer moonlight tours will be offered again. Because Franzensburg at night is a very special experience. During the fairytale tour, the castle dungeon and courtroom are explored, among other things, through a romantic tour of the high tower and rooftop landscape.
Matini from the Laxenburg-Biedermannsdorf Music School
In April, May, June, September and October, the Laxenburg Biedermannsdorf music school organizes outdoor concerts in the picturesque setting of a green summer house. Even Empress Maria Theresia, who built this airy pleasure house, once visited this pavilion to enjoy artistic pleasures of this kind. During this event, visitors can impress themselves with the skills of a music school and feel the special spirit of this place in the romantic castle garden of Laxenburg. The first appointment will be held on April 10 from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
From April 14 to 24, Circus Piccard will return to Laxenburg. On its new tour, the traditional circus around Alexander Schneller, Austria’s youngest circus director, proves once again how excited the show in a circus tent can be. In addition to world-class performers, the best Austrian acrobats give a rendezvous in the ring – always framed by grandiose light and sound technology and a unique atmosphere under the starry sky.
Adventure Forest Breeding for Kids
What is blooming there? And what’s that crawling under that tree? This guided tour contains the correct answers for young and old! Once a month in April, May, June, September and October, the Children’s Forest Education Adventure Program offers fun and exciting nature discoveries in Laxenburg Castle Park. The first appointment will be held on April 17 from 11:00 am to 12:30 pm.
Once a month in April, May, June and October, the castle garden becomes a parade ground for traditional regiments. Visitors can admire the Nicholas Graf Bejasevich Cavalry Regiment and the German Rifle Corps at the original locations in the palace garden, just like generations of the Habsburg imperial family. First appointment on April 24 from 2pm to 5pm.

The 37th Mercedes-Benz SL Club Austria SL Club Meeting will take place on May 1st from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm, and will make the hearts of all motoring history fans beat faster again. Vehicles of this series from all decades can be admired today.
Luxenburg Cultural Summer: The Teacher
From June 12, summer theater can be experienced at its best again in Franzensburg. “The Guru or The Way to the Shangri La La La!” This is a small musical turbulent comedy in which Adi Hershal plays a teacher with liberating drums, lyrical bowl chaos, and a mother yoga digging deep into the root chakras of everyone included. From August 18, Klangwelle in Laxenburg Castle Park will inspire once again with a spectacular display of water, fire, light, art and music.
